Formal Assessments

A key part in the job of a speech-language pathologist is the ability to evaluate clients to obtain his or her current functioning level.

One of the many ways to do this is to evaluate using different measures and collaborating with other professionals when working with students with multiple disabilities.

I had the experience of being on the team that received the Early Childhood Special Education referrals. Through this experience, I worked with the educational specialist for most of the referrals. By doing this, I was able to obtain more information about the child based on my observations of the student working with the educational specialist. Overall, obtaining a better understanding of the child’s functioning.
